Between Kwik Trip and Culver's
huh - I was raised Catholic and can check off none of those. I guess I failed as being a Christian all along.
You didn't read Narnia?

As an ex evangelical I can check off 10 of those (besides the free speech) but I don't get any bingos. Some I didn't count are subject to interpretation a bit, I stacked chairs because someone needed to and though I didn't do it to impress anyone I did want to carry enough for it not to be embarrassing. Others are a bit too Pentecostal.

Nope. I didn't read Narnia until I was in my 20s and had been an atheist for some years. I didn't like it much then because it felt so heavy-handed. I still don't like it.

The only one I have from that whole card is Narnia. I liked the stories as a kid, but they haven't held up well.

I need a different card for kids from mainstream protestant churches: modern bible translations, knowing all the songs and the guitar chords to all the songs, youth group meetings, youth group retreats, youth choir rehearsals, handbell rehearsals, VBS volunteering, potlucks, and can you please sign up to volunteer for this one other thing, please?

It's a bit too recent for me. Purity rings were only really marketed in the UK after I was too old for youth group.

I'm sure I could do my own Christian Kid in the 80s UK Bingo card.

Hmm, somehow it still doesn't feel it matches my experience, and yet I get 12, so there has to be something there... (probably because some of those are things I recognise and were there, but didn't feel "core"). Still not quite a bingo, but some four out of five.

Well considering you were on a whole other continent and from a different tradition altogether... 12 seems quite good

Fair point.

Not so much on the merch, though. I recognise a fair percentage of them, but even if I include "I might have had / worn that" I only get 5.

It was always a big thing in the family having Christadelphian bumper stickers on cars. Every time parents or some siblings get a different car you'd hear them go "Is anyone still printing these? Are there any around?" But I never had one on one of my cars. Didn't want one. Maybe if someone had pushed me hard enough I would have given in, but no-one did.

Seriously, why would I want to draw attention to myself? To be fair, it wasn't just about religion - I don't have any bumper stickers on my car, and never have - but of course I was a little ashamed of it, and not wanting to draw too much attention to myself, even when I believed it true. In spite of that awful "If you're ashamed of me, I'll know at the judgement" verse...

Reminds me of another thing: This sign
Jesus Christ is Coming sign.jpg

The house I grew up in was beside a railway line. There were two large pine trees down the back, so that sign was hung facing the railway line. Mostly as far as I know it had no impact. Occasionally someone would see it and ring one of the numbers, but I doubt it ever led anywhere further. And I'm sure I'd have heard if there was a useful contact through the website (Christadelphia is a small world...).

Me? I've never placed a religious sign on my property. I've never placed a political sign on my property. And I'm not sure that's going to change. My house is for me, a place to be comfortable and safe. Not a place to project an image of who I am and what I stand for (I don't even really want to be noticed...). Same with my car - all it should tell you about me is that I want a car to get from a to b and I don't care too much about it looking new or staying clean...
