Lord Snow, Bumble, and Bother
Bumble and Bother are the blog's mascots. They are two of my (Cas') three cats: a pair of gorgeous orange-tabby kitties as different as night and day. They are the Twins of Creation and Destruction. I got them in October of 2015; they made their debut on the blog on November 3, 2015. They've shown up intermittently since then.
Bumble is a strong, brash, confident, powerfully-built male cat. He's friendly, outgoing, and curious. He can leap astonishing distances and doesn't believe that gravity exists. He has a mysterious black scuff-like spotting on the fur of one of his back feet. And he is HUUUUUUGE. His name is short for "Bumblefuck."
Bother, his sister, is a dilute orange tabby--pink, someone's said it's called--that almost looks like a Creamsicle. She's delicate, tentative, affectionate, and reserved. She has a few black splotches on her chest. She loves to jump and run around; she doesn't even notice that she runs out of steam quickly, and if I'm not watching her, she'll push herself until she throws up. She has the most ladylike paws of any cat I've ever seen, which is how she got her official name of Princess Pretty Toes.
My third cat is the sweet, elderly Lord Snow. He's the inspiration for the name of our Monday off-topic chat posts on the blog. He's almost 15 years old and is in good health; he had his teeth pulled a year or so ago, but he's in fine spirits all the same. He has incredibly elegant coloring, but he is the least elegant cat you could possibly imagine. He's also diabetic, though it's controlled through diet so far. When we got the kittens a few years ago, I wasn't even worried about how he'd take to them--he's chill as can be. His mother was an astonishingly-beautiful pure white Maine Coon sort of cat with the same leaf-green eyes he inherited, but his father was a pure black Domestic Shorthair cat. So naturally Snow came out pure white with a stout short coat, and his long-gone sister Monster came out a tuxedo. Of course!
