Last time we talked, I mentioned three examples of blatantly obvious lies told by Christians who clearly expected everyone to nod, smile, and let them get away with their dishonesty. These lies weren’t accidents or simple errors in judgment. They (and all the ones like them) happened because right-wing Christian culture has become a mixing-bowl full of noxious elements that have combined to produce a mindset that finds dishonesty acceptable and even laudable. Today we’ll go over what some of those elements are and how they fit into what we’re seeing in the news lately.

I’m noticing a trend lately with the Religious Right that might well baffle observers but which makes perfect sense within the strange subculture that its adherents inhabit: they act for all the world like they think we’re idiots. As usual, there’s a bit more to it than that, though. Today we’ll talk about three examples of what I mean.

Today, I want to talk about two things that my religious leaders were right about concerning love. But their other teachings rendered it impossible for believers to put these two good teachings into practice. Let me show you what they are, and why Christians can’t actually practice them.

It didn’t take me long at all to realize that I had been stone-cold wrong about almost everything I’d learned from my religious leaders about love. Today, let me show you five things my old religion got completely wrong about love.

History is repeating itself, and I strongly suspect that there’s actually a reason why Republicans simply cannot let go of this obsession of theirs with forcing women to endure pregnancies conceived by rape.

I just realized that I’ve now been out of Christianity for longer than I was in it. That may sound like an odd way to conceptualize things, but I’ve been doing it for a while about various unpleasant people and subjects. It makes me feel good to know there’s that much distance between me and whatever it was that bothered or hurt me, and my time in fundagelical Christianity definitely counts as something that hurt and bothered me! One of the best outcomes of that deconversion was finally being able to live more authentically–and today we’ll be talking about how that happy change came about.

Christian leaders have a terrible problem on their hands, and it’s only getting worse every day: what to do with the mounting numbers of increasingly-visible abusers and predators cropping up in their broken system. Today we’ll examine why this problem exists, how they’re trying to deal with it, and why those efforts are failing so dramatically.
